Bio
Nicholas Bigelow was born in United States and grew up in the expansive prairie landscape of South Dakota. Inspired by the poetic qualities of the prairie and its subtle ecological systems, Nicholas graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in landscape architecture. After graduating, Nicholas worked designing and constructing a variety of landscapes throughout the upper Midwest while continuing personal research on the contemporary urban form of North American cities and the perspective of time in the development process. Nicholas’s growing interest in urban design and alternative approaches to sustainability led him to Sweden in 2009 to study at the Sustainable Urban Design master’s program in the architecture faculty at Lund University. Since that time, Nicholas has continued his research on contemporary urban issues through a teaching position at Lund University and as integral member of a diverse set of projects as part of the Mandaworks team.
