About 

Ernesto Lopez, an architectural designer born and raised in Mexico, he came to the U.S. ten years ago. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Design in Architectural Studies and with a Masters in Architecture. While working in his masters he collaborated with Catherine Spellman as a research assistant for her book called “Continuing Conversations With Enric Mirralles.”

He is also designing and building his first house in Mexico. He recently travelled to Ethiopia, Africa to design and build a primary school in collaboration with 11 students and local architect Jack DeBartolo. Now under construction, the library, community spaces, and school building are scheduled for completion in late 2013.

He worked on the project, Roden Crater, with architect Paul Bustamante and artist James Turrell. He has worked in architectural firms in Arizona, New York, London, and Barcelona. His two most recent jobs as a designer at Carlos Zapata Studio in New York City during the summer of 2011 and at Enric Miralles - Benedetta Tagliabue | EMBT in Barcelona, Spain during the summer of 2012.

His work has been published in multiple websites with a print publication from ASU. He has been awarded with multiple design awards throughout his college career.

I have participated in a variety of activities during my 3 month internship program including; Concept Design, Design Development, Drafting/Mapping, Production Drawings, Project meetings, Schematic Design among other types of research. Carlos Zapata treats all the employees equally which game me great responsibility to everything that I worked on during my internship. It has been a great experience for me and has thought me a lot; I have learned new design skills and new software skills. I have worked on a diversity of projects ranging from small residential projects to large scale commercial projects.
