Mr. Harmon has broad based experience and education in science and architecture. Prior to diversifying his career path, Mr. Harmon worked as a research scientist, technical consultant and project coordinator in the field of solar physics. In his new career, science continues to guide and inform his approach to architecture. During his matriculation at SCI-Arc, he was actively involved in the Solar Decathlon, an experience that solidified his interest in sustainable design. He has since achieved his LEED accreditation.
As a designer, his interests run the gamut from furniture and interior fittings design and construction to urban planning. “I enjoy working on projects of different sizes and magnitudes because it allows me to think about the various scales at which people interact with their environment. How we experience space is tempered by all of our senses from the feel of the door knob, the sound of our footfalls while ascending a stair case, to the images we catalog in our minds as we traverse through a space. So in the same way a scientist builds an understanding of a system or process by examining its constituent parts, working at different scales of design provides for the ability to discover synergies across them to produce an architecture that is holistic in its affects.”
In his spare time, Mr. Harmon enjoys playing music in a band, reading, sketching, running and hunting for vintage clothing and furniture. Mr. Harmon enjoys being in nature from which he draws inspiration for design. “For me, architecture is ultimately about our relationship with our environment. It should magnify our experience of it and deepen our appreciation for it."

Produced master plans, schematic designs and construction documents for various large scale projects. Projects included developing a schematic design set for a tourist city of 54,000 for the provincial government of Yanjin. The set contained master plan drawings and documents; architectural design drawings for residential units, commercial buildings, civic buildings and schools; and engineering drawings and documents. 3D models were produced in Rhino and the schematic design sets were produce with AutoCAD 2012.
Engaged in client relations and business development which involved travel to China to give presentations to existing clients, prospective clients, government officials and other stake holders.

Assessed physical conditions and conducted ADA compliance surveys of buildings on Glendale School District (GSD) campuses. Developed schematic designs for additions and made recommendations to the GSD on how best to allocate Measure S funds to improve GSD educational facilities.
Performed a comprehensive evaluation of all roofs on the Pepperdine Malibu Campus. Produced annotated roof plans for each building to document areas that require repair or replacement. Made recommendations on how to prioritize the repair and replacement of damaged and worn roofs.
Developed a proposal for a 50 year master plan for Nogales High School. The proposal included a conceptual vision for the campus, designs for new buildings, and phasing schedule.
Worked with Bright Star Schools to design and develop a new elementary school for the city of Pacoima, The project involved a site survey, code research, meetings with the the City of Los Angeles Building Department, and developing several schematic designs for the new campus.
Worked on construction documents for the John Adams Middle School which involved resolving red-lines, responding to RFC's and maintaining the Revit model.
