Architecture study abroad program in Rome, Italy during the spring semester of the 4th year. The curriculum included studio courses, collaborative studio courses with Italian students, and studies in Italian history and culture. Led by Karen Bermann, Cal Lewis, and Francesco Mancini.

Iowa State University China Program (May 2011)
Chinese Studies and Architecture
Two week study abroad program in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, etc.) focused primarily on traditional and modern Chinese culture. Led by Paul Shao.

Awards 

CSI Competition Finalist, Award

Competition for the comprehensive design of a Symphony Center. Located in Boston, the facility needed to house a 1,200 seat concert hall and a 300 seat experimental hall. Supporting space were to be integrated accordingly. The competition was amongst the 5th year ISU professional degree students and ISU graduate students. 10 team finalists were selected. Awards were given by the CSI Jury, or The Construction Specifications Institute of Central Iowa.

BWBR Compeition, Award

Competition for the design of a multistory housing block in New York City. 20 semi-finalists were selected from the third year architecture class at Iowa State, and the winner was selected by the BWBR Architects.

Travel Scholarship for the Iowa State University Rome Program. Selected on the basis of academic excellence.

DMRC Boathouse Competiton, 1st Place

Competition for the design of a new rowing boathouse for the Des Moines Rowing Club, DMRC. 11 finalists were selected from the second year architecture class at Iowa State, and the winner was selected by the DMRC Boathouse committee.
