I am a lover of the built environment. My course work at CU Boulder was in Environmental Design, where I was given ample exposure to LEED design, AASHE standards, sustainable building practices, and environmentally conscious ways of living on the planet. Some of my most inspirational professors were involved in building cost-effective and safe homes in third world countries, and working on familiar soil with Habitat for Humanity.
After college I invested some time into learning to teach yoga, which contributed to my ‘tread-lightly-on-the-earth’ life view. I also gained valuable experience in leadership, building relationships, and connecting with people – as well as helping people connect to one another. I have been teaching for five years now.
Giving back is a very important piece of sustainability, in my mind, and I volunteer as often as I can. Organizations that I give time to include the Green Spaces Project - supporting sustainable businesses in Denver, the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund – giving small business loans to women in Africa, and Yoga for the People – a group of yoga teachers dedicated to giving yoga to the less fortunate. I have also donated time to the Sustainable Living Fair (hosted in Fort Collins), which inspires new and innovate ways to live Green!
I am a creative and energetic individual, able to stay on track, work diligently to complete projects, and bounce in and out of interruption with ease - proven through years of restaurant work. I have a passion for sustainable living, and already have great ideas about creating to conserve for future generations.
ABC Die Co., Denver, CO, US, CAD Operator
At ABC, I work with CAD and a CNC laser to make cutting dies that function in gasket seals, foam packaging inserts, print material, and much more. It has given me great insight into technical machinery operation. I have also learned how to function at a high level, in a high-stress environment, where we work on several projects at once, to meet deadlines for our hundreds of clients.
Nitro Force Design, Denver, CO, US, Consultant
Exposure to several skills and projects here helped round out my design knowledge. I preformed functions such as 3-D design, schematic layouts of space, as-built drawings, as well as computer renderings, and insight on home remodeling projects.
Museum of Outdoor Art, Denver, CO, US, Installation Intern
MOA employed interns every summer for an art installment project. I was part of a design team that organized, and graphically presented a large scale outdoor labyrinth. Work included site surveying, designing, model building, computer rendering, and Adobe-crafted publication material. Although this was a summer position, I was asked to stay on for the winter to help with other computer design work.
University of Colorado at Boulder, Boulder, CO, US, BArch, Environmental Design
Environmental Design was a wonderful program to be enrolled in while living in Boulder. I learned many great techniques and lessons from some incredibly talented professors. My coursework focused on sustainability, new urbanism, and historic preservation.
Dean's List, Award
After learning that college was about managing time, focusing on many courses, and being involved in activities that benefited the community, I learned how to balance all of these things, and made the Dean's List for the first time in my schooling career. This proves to me that I truly have a love for architecture, and learning about it's history, as well as it's possible future.
