How Do You Roll?, Austin, TX, US, Intern - Project Manager/Store Designer
I interned at a fast-casual startup franchisor as a project manager and a store designer, during which I worked split shift between its corporate office and store. My primary responsibility at the office was to learn the project management process and to implement better streamlining of tasks. As a project manager, I was managing equipment orders and delivery dates. As a designer, I was test-fitting potential lease spaces, conducting site-visits, and researching to improve the future store design.

My passion for food led me to work part-time in restaurants during my enrollment in college. My primary responsibility as an employee in a restaurant was to ensure excellent food service to the diners. As a sushi chef, I coordinated with a co-working sushi chef to promptly and accurately provide delicious sushi to the diners’ orders. My mid-shift and closing duties included checking and restocking on necessary ingredient for future use. My experience as a server taught me a lot about multitasking and communicating effectively.

My main responsibility was to exact quantity takeoff information from the construction documents and import it into the company database. Company’s clients were primarily home builders, and to complete the estimating data of each models, I also had to manually calculate quantity requirements of bath and kitchen tiles. I communicated constantly with builder representatives to get clarification on missing or confusing information on drawing sets.
