International Fenestration Forum (IFF) is an association with the purpose of serving the
sustained improvement of design, technology, product quality, standard procedures, research
and teaching in the field of Building Envelope.
The IFF International Design Competition provides a platform for students to develop and
present innovative solutions to a design challenge.
Definition: Fenestration
Products that fill openings in a Building Envelope, such as- Windows, Doors, Skylights, Curtain
Wall etc., designed to permit the passage of air, light, vehicles or people.
Competition Objectives
• To create awareness among the student community the importance of Façade and
Fenestration to a building.
• To encourage and reward design excellence that integrates various issues related to
building envelope (in terms of façade and fenestration) with other services or building
element. The issues related to building envelope are - Aesthetics, Safety, Security,
Solar, Sound, Constructability and Maintenance, thereby creating a sense of comfort
inside and eventually creating a design solution which reflects the Integrated
Sustainable Building Design (ISBD) concept.
