About

Working as an interior designer for the past few years, I have learned how to cooperate in a team both professionally and socially. ‘Good teamwork’ is required in any industry, but I think good team player as an interior designer means becoming an innovative partner who can synthesize different ideas both for the team and the clients. I believe I am a designer who has learned the values and the benefits of teamwork along with the ways to connect and process disparate ideas of each individual into a whole to bring a maximum outcome.

My first job as an interior designer has started in July of 2009. I was hired as an intern student for six month at Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation (PHLF). PHLF is a non-profit company mainly working on improving community conditions while preserving the city’s landmark buildings. Luckily at the time I was working, I had an opportunity to participate in PHLF’s new building renovation project to turn an old commercial building into a Community Resource Center. My job was to work on presentation materials such as developing 3D rendered images and producing video clips of interior area by using Sketch Up.  Not so long after my internship, I came back to Korea and got into an entry-level position at E land. E land is a multi-retail company that has its own interior design team to create own brand images, store concept designs and products.
At E.Land I faced many challenges that could improve and refine my Photoshop and CAD skills. I learned how to produce 3D images by only using Photoshop thanks to the company’s hard training and demands. Such practices have helped me a lot in reducing any time waste that occurs by making amendments.   After a thorough year of work at E land, I have decided to pursue my career at Kingsmen Korea Ltd. Prior to Shinsegae food court project with CADA Design Group from UK, I have been working in several interior design projects that includes developing department stores or retail spaces. Recently during Shinsegae Food Court Design project, I have gone through another new experience of learning detailed information about food courts, the complexity of designing a department store and most importantly, communication and collaboration skills to become a ‘good team player’   My career as a designer may not have been so impressive or particular so far, yet I believe I have gone through dynamic and multifarious experiences that have helped me become a unique designer myself. With my experiences and skills both as a designer and multilingual speaker, I now plan to take another leap forward to become an innovative designer at overseas companies.   I wish to expand my scope as a designer in a global scale and such job opportunity is a perfect fit to fulfill my desire. I started designing simply because I love the idea of creating space, but excelling in what I love requires passion and effort as well. I’m very determined to excel in what I love.

Sincerely,
Nahye Kim
