Upon graduation, I started out in a small firm which provided me with a wide range of experience and was a great beginning. The firm specialized in large custom homes and commercial projects, and I was involved in all aspects of the design profession - from contracts to the finished product. This afforded me the opportunity to interact with clients as well as contractors and building officials.
My position with Pella Windows & Doors and S & E Building Materials provided sales skills and further experience in working with clients, architects and builders. During my time at Pella, I was appointed as the Industry Partner Liaison for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and was assigned to give presentations as well as being a representative at industry trade shows. At S&E Building Materials, I am in charge of all LPC filings and represent the company at AIA Chapter meetings.
My architecture background, including the ability to understand project drawings, was a great asset
to working in architectural product sales and interacting with design professionals. This recent work experience provided great interim employment during a down economy.
I miss the challenge of design, problem solving and the reward of creativity that architecture provides.
Now, I seek to return to the profession and expand my knowledge, leading to licensing.
