Hello! My name is Pam and I am a young, charismatic, and detail-oriented designer interested in learning the processes of creating not just spaces, but places that people connect with and remember. This past May, I graduated with my M.Arch from Northeastern University and I am currently searching for a full-time position starting in September.
During my graduate studies, I often wondered what the role or purpose an architect really is. I asked myself this question quite a few times, searching for what I thought would be a complex and convoluted response until I realized the answer is actually quite simple: Architects are creators.
Designers have the ability to shape the environment around us. Whether it be a sign on a wall, a piece of furniture, or a room in a building, we can awaken the senses and arouse emotions within people with the things we envision and bring to life. This notion of creation is where my interest was born. Specifically, I was fascinated with the ability to design spaces and the intimate experiences people have within them.
More recently, my graduate case studies class highlighted another side of the design process that dealt with the challenges faced in bringing a project to fruition. A deeper investigation of these issues, including leading a team of designers, internal and external communication, contract negotiations, and project scheduling, led me to further explore the topic of design leadership and helped me identify my passion for planning and organization. During my professional experience, I am looking to gain exposure to the business perspective of architecture while also refining my design skills. I am looking for a firm that is highly committed to creative vision with a focus not only on design quality, but also a dedication to a successful business model.
