Maloree McCormick grew up in the tiny mountain
town of Kalispell, Montana. She was a very
creative and crafty little girl, and spent
even her earliest years drawing, painting, and
decorating her family’s home. As she got older,
the natural beauty of her Rocky Mountain hometown
appealed to her artistic sense, but she
grew antsy to move to a big city and became
increasingly fascinated by Los Angeles. Her
quest for big city life brought her first to
Portland after high school then to Seattle to study
interior design at the Art Institute. After
graduating from the institute in 2009, Maloree
briefly returned to Montana where she had
the opportunity to work as a faux
finisher for the artist Shelley Koelzer. Shelley
was instrumental in honing young Maloree’s
painting technique and sharpening her
artistic eye. In 2010, with her education and
Shelley’s mentorship under her belt, Maloree
finally moved to Los Angeles and instantly knew
she had found her home. It was while working as
a host at a little Lebanese restaurant in the
South Bay that Maloree met Hend, who was just
formulating plans for her first business venture,
the Green House. Hend recognized Maloree’s talent
and chose her to realize the vision she had for
the coffee shop. The Green House is Maloree’s
first solo interior design project. She is
incredibly proud of the result and eternally
grateful to Hend for granting her the opportunity.

Worked with an amazing artist, Shelley Koelzer, who taught me everything I know about texture and color. The two of us faux finished anything and everything to look like marble, wood, tile, etc. We also tackled straight painting jobs as well as venetian plaster.
