I will be a solid designer you can count on, whether it’s developing a concept, working with clients, taking a project through design development, or providing construction administration. Your time will be spent fostering a talented landscape architect, not fighting with an over-inflated ego.
I want to design streetscapes that integrate smart transit solutions with pedestrian and bicycle safety. I want to incorporate infrastructure into the landscape, such as bringing green connections or storm water management into the urban environment. I want to design better places for people to live, work and play, with an emphasis on affordable and sustainable housing. I am concerned about the architecture, too. Historic preservation, especially through adaptive re-use, should be considered whenever possible.
As a recent graduate, I am filled with excitement and idealism. But I also am grounded in reality. My experiences with Raleigh’s Urban Design Center and design/build studios at NC State have taught me how projects are designed and built in the real world. I know how important the client is and that their trust in me is key. But, you also need to trust me … and you can. After working for 11 years in daily newspapers, I excel in working on tight deadlines in a team environment. This experience, as well as my time in graduate school, has honed my critical and strategic thinking skills, as well as my verbal and graphic communication skills.
