About

I recently graduated from the architectural program at Portland State and I am looking for a position where I can use what I have learned to make a creative contribution as part of a team. I chose to get a degree in architecture initially as it incorporated my love of design and drawing into skills applicable to a career.

Portland State University’s Architecture program focused on providing the students with a well-rounded general design education rather than focusing intensely on a specific area of building design, so the education translates well into other design fields. The scope and pace of the program has prepared me with the technical skills and mindset to be an asset to a team of creative thinkers and artists.

Education

Portland State University, Portland, OR, US, Bachelors, Architecture

The Chair of the PSU Architecture program, Clive Knights, describes the program:

"Recognized internationally as a highly innovative center of creativity, and renowned nationally as a locus of sustainable practice, Portland is one of the most livable urban environments in North America.

Our teaching and research are inspired by three priorities:

Exploring the poetics of material and the communication of cultural meaning
Speculating upon urban issues and the pleasures and dilemmas of city dwelling
Promoting community engagement and the application of creative and professional practices toward the common good.

Our growing program is approaching 400 students drawn from diverse backgrounds across the city, region, and nationally and internationally. We occupy the award-winning, recently renovated Shattuck Hall in a vibrant urban setting entwined within the vitality and culture of the city."

Portland State University’s Architecture program focused on providing the students with a well-rounded general design education rather than focusing intensely on a specific area of building design, so the education translates well into other design fields. I was able to develop my digital rendering skills and learn new digital design tools. The scope and pace of my architecture program has prepared me with the technical skills and mindset to be an asset to a team of creative thinkers and artists.
