My name is Hussam Khoury. I am a former Arizona State University graduate in Tempe, Arizona. I’ve acquired a Masters in Architecture and a Masters in Urban Design. My understanding of architecture is its part of a bigger whole, in this case, architectures’ interconnectedness with urbanism, which make up the environment in which we all live in and operate from.
I began my journey in the Deserts of Arizona, and then moved to the Jordan Desert to pursue my professional career on an international basis. Due to this transition, I have always found it important to research and adapt to the surrounding environment. I believe as architects & urban designers, we have a responsibility to design and construct spaces with integrity. We must build sustainably to enhance our environment and allow us to create habitable authentic spaces.
During my academic years at Arizona State University, I began my career with SKD, Inc Architects to understand the practicality of the architectural profession. To gain knowledge of design adaptation of different surroundings to create the “authentic,” I decided to live + study in Buenos Aires, Argentina to complete my architecture and urban design theses. This experience allowed me to stretch my boundary and work with the interior, an interior architecture firm based in Amman, Jordan during my college years after my academic work in Argentina. All of these experiences have allowed me to work on both the micro scale of architectural design, and the macro scale of the overall urban context. Completing both my Thesis in Architecture and Thesis in Urban Design in Argentina, has enabled me to fuse theory and reality to bring ingenuity to design. This has led me to work at Dar Al-Handasah, an internationally renowned Design firm with experience at their Amman, Beirut, Dubai, & Qatar Design Offices.
I believe that throughout my journey of life, academically & professionally, I have acquired the skills, knowledge, and sensitivities needed in the fields of Architecture and Urban Design. I would like the opportunity to continue this journey as part of your team.
