As a June 2012 graduate of Drexel University’s accredited Architecture program, I am excited to take what I have learned, from both my coursework and studio experiences, and put it into practice. I hold a Bachelor of Architecture degree coupled with a minor in Construction Management.
Drexel University's architecture program exposed me to a broad range of ideas and practices and has served to prepare me well for a multitude of tasks. At the heart of the program were the studios that charged me with projects of different scales, from residences to skyscrapers. I dealt with the design of small public spaces to larger-scale urban design. I am proficient with Revit, AutoCad, and Photoshop. I am skilled at hand drawing, both free-hand and technically, and try to use these abilities whenever possible. I have experience understanding and reviewing construction documents and details through my time working with my father, a house builder, and during my time as an intern at the City of Rome, New York's Code Enforcement Department. Attaining a minor in Construction Management, in conjunction with my Bachelor of Architecture degree, has been beneficial in that it has given me greater insight into projects post-design. This, in turn, has been invaluable in my overall approach to design and the vision needed to implement every aspect of a project successfully.
When I'm not pursuing things of an architectural nature, I enjoy sketching, painting, photography, playing guitar, and keeping active.
BRR Architecture, Philadelphia, PA, US, Architectural Designer
I am currently an architectural designer working towards licensure at BRR. I am a project designer for remodels, additions, and expansions of large retail buildings. Other responsibilities include site visits, observations, and scope trips for the purpose of gathering as-built information prior to a project's inception. I coordinate construction documents and project communication between the project manager, client, consulting engineers, and the jurisdiction. I am involved in coordinating the specifications for a project, as well as meeting jurisdiction requirements. I balance several different projects at once while striving to meet deadlines and keeping projects under budget.
General Nutrition Center, Philadelphia, PA, US, Sales Associate
I worked as a sales associate at General Nutrition Center part-time while attending school at Drexel University. My interest in keeping fit and healthy led me to GNC and has benefited me in more ways than just my health. My ability to work with others and speak with customers increased greatly. Though my nutrition knowledge may not be of great assistance in my architecture career, the personal skills I gained will undoubtedly benefit me in the future.
David L. Vickers & Sons, LLC, Rome, NY, USA, Laborer
I have been an all purpose laborer for my father's construction business ever since I can remember. I mainly assisted him with minor jobs and cleaning up work sites until I was old enough to assume larger responsibilities. Over the years I have gained much experience in all aspects of residential construction. My jobs ranged from site maintenance to framing to finish work. Once I began college, I was only able to assist my father during school breaks and vacations.
City of Rome, NY Engineering Department and Codes Department, Rome, NY, US, Intern

For the engineering department, I assisted with several jobs the city was working on including street reconstructions, resurfacing streets, and curb cuttings in order to make them handicap accessible.
As an intern for the Codes Enforcement Department, I sat in on code reviews, plan reviews, and also rode along for several house inspections.
Hogan Engineering, PC, Rome, NY, US, Draftsman, Assistant
I worked here the summers of 2007 and 2008. Hogan Engineering is owned and solely operated by Tim Hogan. I was basically an intern who assisted Mr. Hogan with various tasks, the majority of which involved using AutoCAD to draft different projects he was working on. I also went along with him to several inspections in which his goal was to determine whether or not a structure was stable enough to be deemed habitable.
