Spent a summer with the Americorps designing and constructing small, sustainable community enrichment and housing projects for low-income inner-city residents while working with local community organizations to improve neighborhoods around Downtown Dallas and combat homelessness. Approximately half my time was spent designing a complex of 12 duplex senior houses and the other half of my time was spent constructing a LEED-certifiable home for for a low-income resident. Responsibilities involved construction on a Congo Street house and schematic design on the Jubilee Park Senior Housing, including physical model building and community meetings.
