About

I’m an architecture student at the Dublin School of Architecture, DIT Bolton St., Ireland  While currently on my year out, I am residing in Christchurch, NZ and I am using the opportunity to take part in projects and initiatives that I would have been unable to do while I engrossed in my studies. I feel it necessary to go beyond the realm of academic study to become successful in the field of architecture. Interaction and experience are a necessity for one to truly appreciate and understand the culture of architecture, the world we live in. I am a highly motivated and ambitious individual, with an aspiration for successful and varied career within the built environment.

Employment

Ailtireacht Architects, Architectural Assistant

I spent three months at Ailtireacht Architects, a small practice located in Dublin city that consisted of the director Allister Coyne and one other architectural assistant. During my time at Ailtireacht Architects, situated in Dublin city, I brought three housing extensions to the planning stage, which consisted of the drafting of all drawings, includingscheme designs, surveys and planning applications and all model-making and computer rendering involved. I worked on the tender drawings of a different housing extensionwhich manly consisted of the drafting of the architectural location drawings. I was also heavily involved in the practices competition entry for the Loreto Abbey Dalkey Sports Hallcompetition, with only myself and the director working on the project. The few months experience at Ailtireacht has been invaluable to my real-world education of working in anarchitectural practice. I was able to prove that I am a quick learner and highly adaptable to a working environment where I had large responsibilities and new software to learn.
