Experience Highlights:                    

2000 Bed Dormitory and Cafeteria for Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ. Project Manager for production of construction documents and leading of construction administration of dormitory project. Project included a total of 567,000sf in 2 buildings 6-8 stories tall, with 25,000sf cafeteria for 600 students in one building.  Precast concrete construction allowed for substantial time savings in schedule. The ultra-fast track schedule of less than 2 years from beginning of design through completion of construction was met. LEED Silver is expected; assisted in compiling and submitting LEED credits.

Arizona Beverage Warehouse, Operations Center and Beverage Distribution Facility, Edison NJ. Project Manager and Architect for renovation and alterations to existing 460,000sf warehouse to upgrade storage capacity for beverage products, provide new offices, and facility for local distribution truck loading. Complete repaving of existing site including new retaining walls and heavy concrete roadways were included in work.  Projects also included planning for 350,000sf new Bottling Plant linked with overhead conveyor and bridge to existing warehouse.

T. J. Lipton, Inc., Englewood Cliffs, NJ:  Managed architectural staff and coordinated/supervised work with contractors. Site and building master planning, space planning and construction management of facilities improvements in Englewood Cliffs, Moonachie and Cresskill, New Jersey. Responsibilities included leadership of architectural design and hiring/supervision of contractors on a wide range of projects including renovations to all office areas, development labs, pilot plant, new corporate entrance and dining room facility, and parking lot and landscaping work. 

 

Laboratory Expansion for Watson Labs, Copiague, NY; Project Manager/Constr. Manager & Lead Architect; construction administration.  Architectural design for renovation of existing first floor office/warehouse to GMP Pilot Plant, R&D Lab, and office spaces.  Careful planning of existing operations allowed second floor lab operation to be maintained during construction.  Special attention was given to selection of low noise rooftop HVAC equipment to comply with stringent zoning requirements for noise.

ImClone Systems, Inc. Building 59/61 Laboratory Facility Renovation, Branchburg, NJ.  Project Manager/Construction Manager, Architect of Record (conceptual design thru detail design), contractor bidding, and construction support for the development of architectural studies leading to the final design for renovating a 60,000sf facility into QC Labs, Analytical labs, and offices.  Critical issues were developing master plan for entire facility, while completing detail design and subsequent user occupation of space.

 

Bristol-Myers Squibb Building 105/107 Atomic Spectroscopy Lab and GMP Warehouse Upgrade, New Brunswick, NJ.  Responsibilities included Project Management and Architectural design.  Critical issues were designing labs for Atomic Spec, Unit to be as “metal-free” as possible and creation of an “upscale” coffee area for scientists. GMP Warehouse area included in project was designed to be controlled & separated from other areas of the building, well lit and maximized for rack storage.

Roof Replacement, Parsippany, NJ.  Selection of new roofing system to replace old, failing roofing system for Lincoln Properties office building.  Work included drawings, details, specifications, contractor selection and construction administration.


Due Diligence Study for Delta Dental / Lincoln Properties, Parsippany, NJ.  To determine maintenance and design issues with building being considered for purchase.

 

Due Diligence Study, Branchburg, NJ.  Due diligence study and building evaluation as part of pre-purchasing evaluation by ImClone.  Report was prepared indicating areas of concern.

MedImmune Bulk Biotech Manufacturing Facility (Building 633), Frederick, MD.  Architect of Record and Construction Support. Design from concept studies through contractor bidding and construction support.  This 350,000sf grassroots facility includes GMP manufacturing spaces with large-scale bioreactors, chromatography skids, large scale purification vessels, (utilizing ISO 8 and 9 conditions), QC testing labs, plant utilities, high-bay (8-high) narrow aisle warehouse and office spaces.  Critical aspects of this project were creative and expandable exterior architectural design, logical material/personnel flows and durable GMP details.

Miscellaneous Renovations and facility upgrades for Novartis, East Hanover, NJ. Project Management and architectural design of various projects including vivarium renovations, DEA vault installation, Pilot Plant GMP airlock upgrade, Mock-up Buildings design and construction support.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Lab Building H3 Use Group Upgrade Study, New Brunswick, NJ.  Analyzed construction and utilization of 5 existing lab buildings, indicated deficiencies in existing construction and systems with respect to proposed H3 hazardous (labs using solvents) operations in those buildings, and proposed architectural and mechanical system upgrades to make building conform to more stringent code requirements for H3 Use Group.

Facility Consolidation Study. Design issues included isolation of liquids processing spaces, designing spray-drying rooms for alcohol use and deflagration, and ASRS high-density warehouses.  The project included a capital cost comparison between a consolidated grassroots facility design and major renovations to two other existing facilities.  The critical issue in this project is improving manufacturing operational material flows at the lowest overall cost.

Five-Year Strategic Master Plan; PF Labs in Totowa, NJ.  This project included extensive management and operations interviews in order to determine the present and future product mixes for that facility and the interrelationships between manufacturing sites.  A structured 5-year master plan was created to outline and schedule the improvements at Totowa.  Cost estimates and  construction implementation schedules were developed for each phase of construction and presented to corporate management.

Comcast Cable Earth Stations, located in St. Louis, MO; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA.  Architectural design of "simple &  standard" earth station receiving centers for cable TV signals sent by satellite to earth to be relayed to other earth-based cable transmitting centers.  Electronic clean room computer centers and control rooms, designed with standard repeatable details.

Multistory Office Buildings and Commercial Shopping Centers in northern New Jersey - design and construction support work with developers in northern NJ.  Designs were low cost and needed to meet very short deadlines.

 

Dental Office, Podiatry Office, Corporate Medical Suite, Ophthalmology Office  - Design and construction support of various professional offices suites renovations in northern NJ.

Burger King Restaurant renovations in central New Jersey - Design of additions and upgrades to operating restaurants and kitchens including town meetings and field support during construction of BK buildings along Route 22.
