Hello,

My name is Joel Filipe da Silva Mendes, I’m a Portuguese architect. I finished my Master degree in
architecture by the Universidade Lusíada of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal (Bologne integrated master) and at this moment I’m working as an architect assistant at an architecture studio in Portugal.
The subject addressed in my master’s thesis entitled “Neighborhoods as a Social Dynamics of Public Space” was about the public spaces characteristics, namely its quality, existing urban routes, car traffic volume, conditions for pedestrian circulation and implications for provision of outdoor activities. The intervention area was the center Braga’s city, Portugal, and it targets the interior of an existent neighborhood. This essay suggests the implementation of collective housing so that questions like periodical use and collective experiencing are put in the foreground incited by a series of trails planned not merely in this essay but connected with already existing urban trails in such a way that its center becomes "accessible to all passers-by.”

As a student and now as an architect, my work focuses less on public spaces and more in projects ranging from public buildings such as libraries, cinemas and theaters, to single and multi family housing. Therefore, my knowledge is broad enough to deal with any architectural challenge.

I'm looking to provide my services as an architect. I have knowledge in modeling and rendering software,
particularly AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, 3D Studio MAX, Sketch up and Artlantis.

I also have good learning skills and I take every challenge as an extra motivation for work.
I'm hoping to find collaboration opportunities in foreign countries to get to know new cultures, new people, new ways of thinking and new projects.
