Santiago Vives Sanfeliu, graduated as architect at the Technical Collage for Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB 1973). Research fellowship from the Education and Culture Ministry for the work Association and housing access .
During the years 1977-1998 he joined the Office Bosch-Tarrús-Vives arquitectes.
In 1998 he founded the office ЅVɅrquitectura. Simultaneously, from 1975 he has been teaching as professor of design and coordinates the students exchange-program Sòcrates at the ETSAB and other universities in Washington, Paris, Thessaloniki, Torino, Firenze and Ferrara.
He has participated in many research projects carrying out several conferences as well as lectures in Spain and abroad.
ЅVɅrquitectura represents the core of a network of multidisciplinary professionals and companies with extensive experience in cooperation, which unfolds on the basis of specifically established working groups.
This flexible structure enables us to face large and complex projects by adapting the profile and capacity of the team to the characteristics of each project.
We coordinate during the whole process in close contact with our partners and highly qualified specialists the advance of the projects to ensure an integral service and optimal product quality.
The completed work in the construction sector comprises more than one hundred projects that testify the extensive experience achieved in a variety of different professional fields.
Over twenty projects of restoration / rehabilitation of historic and registered protected buildings provided profound knowledge of traditional construction techniques, their pathologies and methods of conservation.
At the new building projects we also aim to apply an attitude of continuous innovation, based on the industrialization and the development of the building technologies.
In terms of typological criteria our experience ranges from building projects such as schools and universities, cultural and social facilities, health centres and public spaces to urban planning and all types of residential buildings.
To a large extent, we develop projects for public clients, represented by the different organs of state administration like city councils, ministries and mixed promoters.
At the same time we carry out mainly residential and corporate projects commissioned by private promoters. The intervention scale ranges from single family housing to large estates and facilities.
ЅVɅrquitectura operates all project phases from the previous exploration, feasibility studies, conceptualization, legal permits, budget control, construction and contract documentation to execution management.
The quality of our work has been repeatedly recognized and many projects have been awarded and published in exhibitions and publications.
We understand professionalism as a synthetic compound of our creative and social aspirations with aspects of economic efficiency and quality within a framework of entrepreneurial activity.
We are completely aware of the importance to agree with the client from the beginning on precise objectives, to ensure the congruence of the product-quality with the expectations.
Permanent dialogue and coordination represent the main tools to guide the design and construction processes with responsibility. To manage this dialogue with the utmost quickness and sensitivity is our commitment in order to achieve the appropriate conceptualization.
To sum up, the quality of a work is testified by the shared conviction that it represents the best way to merge the objectives for functionality, formal expression, environmental integration and sustainability.
Here we find the basis for a truly unique, tailor-made solution for each project. In this sense, we pursue a vision of modern architecture, which is “contemporary” beyond its moment of creation, expressing rather a humanistic attitude than a design-style.
