St. Bernard Project, New Orleans, LA, US, Director of Design and Construction
I am the Director of Design and Construction responsible for the rebuilding and building of over 75 construction projects annually. St. Bernard Project is a national non-profit disaster relief organization responsible for over 529 rebuilds of homes in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. I oversee the construction department and am one of six senior level staff. Four Project Managers report directly to me at all times and as a team we are responsible for utilizing a staff of over 75 to work on 15 to 20 projects at any given time.
In my role at St.Bernard project, I am responsible for the initial start of a project beginning with field diligence. I then create the documents required to be submitted to the city of New Orleans on AutoCAD and write the estimate and scope of work. I work with the City of New Orleans, HDLC and SHPO to get the project permitted. My team and I then follow the documentation to either build or rebuild residential projects for clients.
