After graduating in 2011 at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, I moved to New York and started working at the architectural firm studioMDA. At this office, I have worked on several projects and I have interfaced with clients, developers, manufacturers, sales representatives and colleagues. Before that, while I was at university, I collated my studies with internships at the architectural office Octogóno, where I had my first contact with the professional world. I learned the inner workings of an architectural office, assisting my colleges and bosses with reprography, office supplies, code research, cad drawings, presentations and client meetings.
I have always had an open mind to different cultures, I liked visiting other countries and participating in international competitions. This philosophy drove me to go to Poland for one year of study abroad and eventually move to New York. During the time that I spent in Poland, apart from my studies, I also traveled around East-Europe, participated in the international competitions with polish students and got the “Cambridge First Certificate”.
I am passionate about Architecture and Restoration. I get involved in every single phase of my projects, from research and ideation, to construction and site visits. I love traveling and know new cultures. This philosophy drove to go to Poland for one year of study abroad, and eventually, move to New York. I learn fast, I want to explore, fail, succeed and develop. I want to create modern architecture, which helps to improve people lives. I believe in an architecture driven by art, technology and efficiency.
studioMDA, New York, NY, US, Junior Architect
As a Junior Architect, I have worked on several projects and I have interfaced with clients, developers, manufacturers, sales representatives and colleges. One of my first projects was a new art gallery in Chelsea. I assisted the project architect from design to construction documentation phase. After that, while I was developing some small scale projects on my own, another great opportunity came, the competition for micro-units, AdAPT NYC, commissioned by Mayor Michael Bloomberg´s Office. In a team of three architects we developed the studio proposal, with a total of 23,000sqf for residential, divided in 65 micro-units and 17,000sqf for commercial and common spaces. The last three months I have been working on a team of two for the New York based label Steven Alan. We are designing their new clothing store in Boston, which is set to open to the public in June 2013.
