I graduated from Woodbury University San Diego with a five year Bachelors of Architecture. I have spent the last 3 years working in the design field and have experience with a variety of types of projects. I am interested in the position and have the necessary qualities to fulfill it.
I am currently interning for Marengo Morton Architects in La Jolla, California. I also worked for two other local design firms, DNA, a European design firm that specializes in modular high end homes and RainThanks, which concentrates its efforts in permaculture. During my internships, I worked on the development for an upscale modular home system made from recycled shipping containers and on a Computer Technologies School House for a community in Ghana, Africa. At Marengo Morton my responsibilities include drafting details and plans, marketing, 3D modeling, site verifications, code and materials research, and project administration.
Process, presence and community are the three issues I feel are most important in a project. Process because I believe that the as a designer, the true beauty of a project doesn’t lie in the beginning or with the end result. Snapshots from the work created during the design process are often extremely provocative. The presence speaks about the unity of the project and the site. And, community determines the integration and acceptance of the project in its surroundings.
