About

I am a highly motivated Architect and urban designer. My particular passions include urban mixed-use design, drawing, sustainability, and bicycling advocacy.  These passions and my skills have given me the opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of the premier California multi-family architecture firms. In addition, I served on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) Planning and Land Use Committee in 2013.

I graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a Bachelors in Architecture in 2005 and have more than 11 years of experience in a wide variety of architecture and urban design projects.  I have gained expertise in drawing, drafting, analog and digital 3D modeling, and graphic presentation software platforms.  My expertise, efficiency in work completion, and passion for design has allowed me to work in reputable southern California architecture and urban design firms.

TCA Architects, Los Angeles, CA, US, Associate, Project Designer

As part of the TCA design team, I participate in feasibility studies, yield studies, conceptual design packages, and guide each realized project from conception through schematic design for numerous clients in the Los Angeles basin. This includes, but is not limited to Entitlements, Site Plan Review, architectural design and details, material selection, and coordination with the consultant team. Soon thereafter we build a larger in-house team of talent to take the project through completion of Construction Documents. As a Project Designer I continue to guide the team and ensure design intent is implemented.

Projects are typically urban mixed-use multi-family in nature. Since joining TCA Architects I have participated on the design team of 5 built projects in Glendale and downtown Los Angeles.

Education

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, CA, US, BArch, Architecture

"The architecture program is structured to develop and advance the design and technical skills that, coupled with studies in the humanities and communication, prepare students for entry into the profession's vast world of opportunities.""Because opportunities in architecture are multi-faceted, the program is intentionally broad — a rich educational foundation from which to design one's role in today's complex world. No other college offers so much direct exposure to the other disciplines in the planning, design and construction industry. This occurs through interaction and joint projects among and within the CAED's five departments." - http://www.caed.calpoly.edu/aboutcaed/index.html

Your fifth and final year at Cal Poly encompasses everything you have learned throughout our tenure, and one full time project is assigned. My senior thesis concept was to create a viable TOD of housing, live-work, office, and retail adjacent to the Metrolink station and bus transit hub in Orange, California. This TOD is the link between old town Orange and regional-serving public transit, 1/4-mile away - the ideal distance for pedestrian travel. Parking requirements are reduced and a 24-hour community enlivens this prime land once dedicated to warehouses serving the commercial railroad, now defunct at this location.

Awards

Congress for the New Urbanism Charter Award, Award

Awarded for the River North District Master Plan in San Antonio, Texas, this Master Plan, form-based code, and implementation strategy was created to transform an under-performing 375-acre area directly north of Downtown along the RiverWalk into a vital expansion of Downtown that has seen disintegration since the tremendous construction of suburban sprawl.

I served as Project Manager under the Project Director, handling and overseeing many of the day-to-day operations that included extensive site analysis, charrette planning, consultant coordination and integration, and the construction of the Master Plan document materials and graphics.
