University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Lecturer / Adjunct Faculty
Instruction of introductory Graduate level design studio courses.
The Ohio State University, Auxiliary Faculty
Instruction of the following : the third-year, undergraduate design studio sequence that focuses on institutional design and materiality specific to concept, form and construction methods, a graduate seminar on book design, a second year undergraduate fabrication studio and a sixth year graduate advanced studio, being co-taught in collaboration with Jason Payne from UCLA.
USAARL, Warfighter Protection and Health Division, Design and Research
Responsibilities included aiding the administration of research protocols, specific to enlisted soldiers in the Army, through the running of participants through experiments that tested their cognitive performance under different environmental and psychological conditions. These protocols included my training on the facilities flight and weapons simulators. I provided illustrations and animations specific to protocols being investigated at the facility as both instruction for protocol participants and also for publications.
Harvard University, Co-Creator and Principal of Project Link
As a creator of the program I established an administrative structure and curriculum that facilitated the teaching of design to high school students from a variety of Boston-based school districts. This curriculum included the teaching of tools and techniques, and a conceptual awareness through a historic and contemporary overview of architectural and design practices.
A0 Estudio, Intern Architect
As an intern architect with A0 Estudio I worked on the schematic and design development phases on various private residences in Quito for a range of clients. I also worked on Construction Documentation for various small to mid-range scale projects in South America.
Harvard University, Research and Design
As a recipient of the Harvard Community Fellowship, I, along with two of my colleagues, researched and provided a schematic proposal for a new school for the deaf in Beverly, Massachusetts. This research pursued new advances in the design of deaf environments, with a focus on in-depth research into participatory material tectonics and construction methods that acknowledged the point-of-view of the hearing and educationally impaired. This research established a universal approach through an architectural catalog, treated as a case study of technique and application specific to the Beverly institution. The built proposal is currently under construction, and a published book is in the works documenting our design approaches for deaf and learning disabled environments.
NBBJ, Intern Architect
As a designer at NBBJ I participated in the design stages of two full projects within the Miami Valley Healthcare System. The two projects, a N.I.C.U. and a Heart Hospital Tower extension, required my involvement on the schematic and design phases of both projects. I worked on physical and digital 3D models, drawing sets as well as the graphic design and layout of all presentations. In addition, I lead initiatives in healthcare product design and prototyping that sought to implement research into the adaptation of new efficiencies for issues within the healthcare system.
