About

I am an architect, designer, and artist.  I have been working in high-end residential design for almost ten years.  I have a wide range of experience, from classical hand drafting of finely detailed traditional country estates, to CAD CDs of sleek and modern urban apartments, to more commercial work in residential buildings.  I have worked in both architecture and interior design firms exposing myself to all areas of project design and management.  I am now familiar with the design and decorator showrooms and interior design landscape as well as architectural design and detailing.
From the start of my career, I have been exposed to the collaboration of designers and architects to create finely detailed homes and estates for the elite.
At Fairfax and Sammons Architects, I spent three years of practice hand drafting fine traditional homes.  I learned the language, skills, and practice of classicism and traditional design including scale, proportion, and detail, often lost arts in these times of clean, modern design.  I worked on exquisitely detailed homes with complicated millwork, both ground up and renovations, including Manhattan apartments, estates in Manhattan, Greenwich, Charlottesville, and other exclusive areas.
From there, I moved on to Freyer Collaborative Architects and spent a year learning AutoCAD, working on several apartment building complex updates (for Related) including common spaces and amenities such as lobbies, community rooms, entertainment centers, mailrooms, and hallways.  I also updated many apartments with standard new kitchens and baths, modified updated plans, and restructured combination apartments.  I prepared building department drawings on a mass scale, and worked in the field, surveying, and attending site meetings with the client and contractors.
During this same year, I designed an apartment in Chelsea.  It was a small job, but was immensely gratifying, my first solo freelance project.  I collaborated on all aspects of the project directly with the client, including decoration.  It was published in last year’s Time Out Magazine design issue. Please see http://newyork.timeout.com/shopping-style/apartments-home-design/52301/apartment-tour-studio-in-chelsea for this article.
I then moved to a high-end interior design firm, Randall A. Ridless LLC, working with their in-house architect.  I worked on beautiful projects with wonderful people and learned how to put together a proper AutoCAD set of detailed construction documents for many complex interior design projects.  Working in direct proximity with the interior designers exposed me to the intense collaboration of the fields as well as elaborate furniture design and materials selection.   I worked on traditional homes as well as modern in Manhattan, Greenwich, and Palm Beach, the last of which was a 4000sf. home in 15 Central Park West, the exclusive new building designed by Robert A.M. Stern and Associates.
This past year, I freelance designed and managed the gut renovation of a 2500 square foot Upper West Side residence for a high profile client.  I collaborated exclusively with the interior designer to create a stunning bachelor pad.  From inception to completion, (survey, schematic design, inspiration and materials boards, client meetings, bid, DOB, and pricing sets, all construction documents, custom furniture designs and details, schedules, project management, site meetings with contractors and subs, furniture, fixtures, and equipment research and sourcing…), I was responsible for all drawings and correspondence- with the interior designers’ instruction and input of course.  This was done in a richly appointed contemporary aesthetic and turned out exquisitely for a highly satisfied client.
I intend to continue to develop my career in the architecture and design industry, starting architectural registration exams this year.   While most of my experience is in the high-end residential sector, I am eager to branch out into other fields of design as well, including interiors, hospitality, retail, commercial, green design, etc.  I have a passion for architecture and interior design, detail- both traditional and modern, a love of color, pattern, form, and texture, and love to put it together to create beautiful spaces for people to enjoy.  I am professional, hard-working, responsible, creative, industrious, inspired, and enthusiastic.  I am also incredibly friendly, well-educated, well- travelled, and well-versed in a variety of things.  I work well by myself, and love to collaborate with others as well.  I have made 70K at last two positions, but am negotiable.  I am available for interview and can provide references as requested.
