About

My name is Jones M. Harris. I'm a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Architect focusing on design and culture. It is of the utmost importance to me to take concepts (design and research) and skills (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suites, Design-Build etc) I’ve gained through work experience and undergraduate studies and apply them in order to further my skills as an aspiring architect. I'm passionate about architecture. It's always been a mayor part of life. Through architecture I can improve the quality of life for many people. After witnessing the destruction of Liberia as a child, I decided to become an Architect so I can one day rebuild my country of birth. That goal still motivates me. I will relocate if offered a position.

Employment

ETJ&A Architects and Associates, Architectural & Design Consultant

At the ETJ&A my primary responsibility was to design and develop the firm's website and create 3D models and develop concepts for projects. This opportunity allowed me to use my Adobe suite skills (i.e. Photoshop and Illustrator) to bring the firm's ideas to life. This process involved a lot of conversations with the Principal of the firm to fully understand how he wanted the world to view his practice. Currently I’m developing concepts in 3D models and color schemes for a Dentist Office in Boston, MA (This is also a part time position because of lack of funds.) Currently I'm working to a Facade design for a church in Dorchester, MA.

The Arch Professional Group, Architectural Consultant

At the Arch Professional Group I was tasked with creating detailed drawings. Using AutoCAD I created wall sections, elevations, door schedules and red line floor plans. I also worked on construction documents for various projects. I categorized both old and new drawings, archived them and also helped put together proposals (RFP &RFQ) for Commercial, State and Health Care jobs. Part of my duties at the Arch professional Group was to research and follow up on potential jobs that the firm might be interested in. Currently I'm a part of a team working of a transit design study for the city of Boston, MA.
Working at a small firm allowed be learn fast and work independently while supporting a team of professionals to archive a goal. (I no longer work full time with the Arch Professional Group because of lack on jobs and they could no longer afford to pay me as a full time worker)
