Employment

J.L. Richards & Associates, Intern Architect

Post-graduate employment. This past year working at a multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering firm provided the opportunity to work on a wide range of building typologies, both new build and addition/renovations. These included new build design work for a custom designed single family residence and a school for grades JK-12. Initial conceptual design and renderings for a hybrid of transportation/commercial building in Ottawa. Projects involving addition/renovations. Other responsibilities allowed my range of experience to extend into more technical aspects of the discipline including building specifications, working drawings and construction details, materials research and some initial aspects of project finances. Provided considerable insight into the level of coordination required across all disciplines.

Christian Hubert Studio, Junior Architect

Post-undergraduate employment. Majority of work involved drafting of construction documents and details for high end residential project for prominent art collectors on the UES of Manhattan. The project’s main focus was the design of a double height library with mezzanine & spiral staircase which required the design of mill work, hand rail and stair details in co- ordination with lighting, mechanical and structural requirements. My work included discussions with the structural engineer, fabricators, and frequent collaboration with the site foreman to coordinate well detailed, site-specific design requirements. Smaller projects included custom mill work design for a library, dining and bedroom in the West Village, development/ planning for a townhouse in London and a vacation home in Sifnos, Greece.
