I am Tarık Çetin, a Master of Architecture student at İzmir Institute of Technology with a passion for pushing the boundaries of architectural design through the integration of computational tools and BIM (Building Information Modeling). My expertise spans the intersection of architecture, programming, and digital design, with over a year of professional experience at NFORM Design Technologies, where I specialized in façade production and advanced modeling techniques using tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
Throughout my career, I have worked on projects that required innovative solutions, such as the development of complex geometric facades and the automation of kinetic façade systems connected to sun orientation. This hands-on experience, combined with my knowledge of API programming, Revit, and Dynamo, has shaped my approach to architecture as a data-driven and design-focused process. I have also been responsible for the coordination of lighting design projects within BIM models, applying these skills to create functional, aesthetically pleasing environments.
In addition to my professional and academic work, I have a deep interest in exploring the ways architecture can transform spaces and enhance human experience. I believe in the power of light and social interaction in shaping our perception of space, and I incorporate these elements into my design philosophy. My portfolio reflects this through a diverse range of projects, from large-scale digital twins to conceptual lighting designs.
Collaborative and adaptable, I thrive in teamwork environments, leveraging my strong communication skills to foster effective project management and problem-solving. With a background enriched by research, professional practice, and a love for global architectural traditions, I am committed to advancing my career in computational architecture and BIM, constantly seeking to develop creative and sustainable solutions.
NFORM Design Technologies, Istanbul, Architect / Computational Designer
As an Architect / Computational Designer, I have been actively involved in high-profile projects such as Highwell Towers, Eregli Holding HQ, Yandex Campus, and Deka Campus. My responsibilities include preparing digital twins using Rhinoceros & Grasshopper, optimizing geometric 3D clashings, and integrating large-scale fabrication automation with CAD/CAM systems. Additionally, I specialize in preparing detailed shop drawings for metal façade systems and metal forming, ensuring precision and efficiency in the design and production processes.
EC Lighting Design, Istanbul, Junior Lighting Designer & BIM Architect
As a Project-Based Junior Lighting Designer & BIM Architect, I contributed to projects such as RAMS Beyond, War of Independence Memory House, H. House, and the Oncology Hospital. My role involved developing conceptual lighting designs for façades and landscapes, creating 3D models, and integrating BIM using 3ds Max and Revit. I also produced architectural visualizations based on lighting simulations using Lumion and edited project videos using Adobe Premiere Pro to enhance the visual presentation and communication of design concepts.
Izmir Institute of Technology, Izmir, BAP Scholar
As a BAP Scholar on the "Classification and Clustering of Anatolian and Balkan Houses Using GIS and Deep Neural Networks" research project, I conducted in-depth archive research on Anatolian and Balkan houses. My responsibilities also included preparing presentations and classifying data to support the project's analytical and research objectives.
MIGU Design, Istanbul, Architect
As an Architect, I worked on projects such as Pastoral Istanbul and Sükrüpasa no.48. My responsibilities included 3D design and modeling using Rhino and SketchUp, preparing and scheduling application projects, and producing high-quality 3D renderings with post-processing. Additionally, I handled video editing tasks using Adobe Premiere Pro to create compelling visual presentations of architectural concepts.
Dilekci Architects, Istanbul, Intern Architect
As an Intern, I contributed to projects such as Swissotel Resort Çeşme and The Lithuanian National Museum of Art Competition. My role involved 3D design and modeling using Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and SketchUp. I was also responsible for hardscape and canopy design, as well as conducting research and development during the concept phase of these projects.
