My name is Anhad Viswanath and I am a Landscape Architecture Alumnus from Michigan State University, originally from India. I chose Landscape Architecture because the field offers interesting avenues for design, art, the environment, and the society, which are my interest points. I spent seven years of my childhood in the Netherlands. During my time there, I witnessed landscape architects and agriculturists employing interesting means, such as marshes, dikes, and adding volumes of sand to land near the seashores, to protect the land from flood related events. I saw how the profession is very important in helping the country's landscape become and remain resilient and regenerative, especially as the country is situated slightly below sea level.
I would like to specialize in landscape and urban design where I can design gardens, parks, playgrounds and urban spaces that can encourage people to embrace the natural environment and improve the lives of communities. My capstone project in my graduating semester (see 'Evidence-Based Design' page) allowed me to explore adaptive reuse and eventually discover my passion for reimagining airfields and underultized developed land as a part of sustainble design.
Kathryn Talty Landscape Architecture, Inc., Glenview, IL, US, Design Intern
• Crafted planting and yard designs for residential design projects using hand sketching and AutoCAD that enhanced season interest in the residence’s landscape.
• Drafted construction document sheets on AutoCAD that present detailed design implantation to the clients and contractors.
• Calculated the perimeter and area of planting beds mathematically, for commercial projects, that closely followed zoning ordinances.

• Prepared a plant list template on MS Excel for trees and shrubs in Illinois which provided an informative resource that was appreciated by the team.
• Collaborated directly with Principal and Licensed Landscape Architects on park and public projects by drafting construction details on AutoCAD that were constructed and installed.
• Prepared playground park exhibits for projects on AutoCAD and strengthened my efficiency and attention to detail when working on AutoCAD.
• Maintained company standards and regulations when preparing client presentation templates and grant application templates on MS PowerPoint InDesign, that strengthened grant applications and project approvals.
• Rendered Concept and Preliminary master plans on Adobe Photoshop that strengthened project packages.
• Examined community input surveys on MS Excel and the highest-ranking results were taken forward for design concept plans.

• Assisted with plant maintenance by pruning flowers and weeds from annual plants to improve plant health.
• Operated an electric mower to clear fallen leaves from sidewalks as well as remove dirt from the pond and the natural elements of the garden were preserved.
Brothers Outdoor World, Jackson, MI, US, Landscape Designer Intern
• Partnered with the Lead Landscape Designer and arborists with 12 residential design projects by envisioning 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and Realtime Landscaping Architect which enhanced the living experience for the clients.
• Designed and quoted for client sales and construction bidding by calculating cost estimates using the LMN Program, and economized design installation for plants and materials.
• Rendered site pictures for clients using Realtime Photo Editor and improved my skills in digital rendering.
• Measured the area and spot elevations in job sites using a measuring wheel and a Smart Level elevation measuring device and designs were crafted and installed accurately.
