Hello! My name is Brittany, and I use building science to make the world a better place. I am a recent college graduate and newly certified CPHC with ambitions of introducing Passive Building to our National Parks - if we must have structures there, then they had might as well leave as small a footprint as possible. I’m interested in opportunities to work on Passive House/high-performance projects, and I am hoping to earn my LEED certification sometime soon. It’s a pleasure to meet you!
Passive House Institute US (PHIUS), Remote, Intern
As an intern with Phius, I “wear many hats.” I have aided my supervisor(s) with an array of tasks ranging from graphic design to communications, and have enjoyed every new experience. Most recently I’ve been working on the development of educational materials, and generally helping in any way that I am needed.
Architecture by Design, Inc., Ellicott City, MD, US, Project Intern
This internship provided me with my first experience working full-time in a formal office setting. During my tenure at Architecture by Design, I worked on various affordable housing projects under the direction of the firm’s Senior Project Managers. I was responsible for communicating with all design parties involved in each project, coordinating submission dates, facilitating discussions pertaining to design choices, and developing architectural drawing sets in order to meet important deadlines. I also conducted inspections on job sites and was responsible for organizing data collected through those inspections.
Requity Foundation, Baltimore, MD, US, “Carver House” Intern
This internship was my introduction to not only the field of Architectural Design, but to Passive House design. As an intern on this project, I worked under my former professor Timmy Aziz, a registered architect and certified Passive House consultant. I learned about Passive House design and used my skills in AutoCAD to generate the required architectural drawings.
Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD, US, Architectural Design
In May of 2022, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I graduated from MICA Magna Cum Laude, with a GPA of 3.8. At the time of my graduation, I was also a member of iLead, which is a recognized network of student leaders throughout MICA. I earned my place in iLead by serving as the President of MICA’s Chapter of AIAS.
