About

Joe has a broad background in multidisciplinary design and art making, with work ranging from discreet sculptural objects to large scale urban projects. Joe brings a strong engagement with the temporal experience of a site and its context to his work. This point of view has allowed for broad participation with the various stakeholders of each project. Joe’s strong visual communication skills and high detail and construction standards have led to several precedent setting projects. Joe has led the landscape design work on significant collaborations with leading architecture firms including Gehry Partners, Lorcan O’Herlihy Associates, Johnson Fain, AC Martin, Perkins & Will, and Daly Genik among others. In addition to these collaborations on civic, commercial and residential work, Joe has made a commitment to design education by teaching visual communication and landscape studios to undergraduate and graduate level students at University of Southern California and Otis College of Art and Design.

Joe received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Center College of Design and also attended the University of San Francisco and the Academy of Art College. Joe's professional experience includes working with Nancy Goslee Power and Associates for over a decade as a senior designer and associate, as well as stints at Wiehle Carr Architects and Eric Owen Moss Architects.  Joe also founded Temple Designs, a design build practice, as well The Endowment for Experiential Architecture, a 501(c)3 organization to promote the relationship between landscape and the built form.
