Hello! I am James O'Brien, a current 4th-year architecture student at the New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury campus. I have 4 years of architectural education, which has given me time to develop my skills in Rhino, Revit, AutoCAD, and multiple Adobe software. I am eager to expand my knowledge of architecture by applying my skills to the office environment. By beginning as an intern/part-time position, I strive to learn and support a superb team of Architects and Designers.
Saf-T-Swim, Bellmore, NY, US, Swim Instructor
As a swim instructor, my goal is to teach children how to safely navigate a swimming environment. During my day, I hold classes with one on one sessions with each of my students. Not only do the kids learn about water safety, but they develop skills to compete in swimming competitions.
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Old Westbury, NY, US, BArch, Bachelor of Architecture
At NYIT, we are provided with resources to perform intensive study and design work. Over the course of 4 years, I have developed the skills to produce models, design iterations, and site research. Investigating demographics and site-based needs, informs the semester project. From there a series of design proposals are created through drawings and digital tools such as Rhino, Revit, Illustrator, and Photoshop to tie the narrative together. Physical models are also used to study the design and site details.
