About 

Michael Clyde Johnson is an object-based artist and architectural designer whose work ranges from participatory public space installations to domestic objects, encompassing aspects of both sculpture and architecture. His work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including the Bronx Museum of the Arts (Bronx, NY), Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens, NY), Brooklyn Bridge Park (Brooklyn, NY), Randall’s Island Park (Manhattan, NY), and the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art (Staten Island, NY). He has been the recipient of a number of awards including grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Public Art Fund, the DUMBO Arts Festival, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts (New York, NY), and residency fellowships from Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens, NY) and Sculpture Space (Utica, NY), among others. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and Master of Architecture and Master of City Planning degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was awarded the Richard Bender Fellowship and the Eisner Prize in Architecture. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
