With 3 years of intensive studies in architecture and visual arts through a unique dual-curriculum, I bring to your team not only a trained eye for detail, but also a keen sense of design which has been well-seasoned through my visual studies studios. I believe great architecture is fueled by its parameters-sustainability, cost, and impact towards users and community. I approach design mindful of these parameters and always with the aspiration to create beautiful work that serves to invoke memorable experiences. For me, architecture and design are more than aesthetic pragmatics, they are a means to inspire people, connect communities, and manifest culture.
I’m proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, Lumion, and the Adobe Creative Suite as well as hand sketching and rendering. I have used all aforementioned to procure scaled construction documents, floor plans, elevations, sections, perspectives, photorealistic renders, 3D virtual models, and physical models by use of 3D printing and laser cutting. In addition to these tools I am also savvy in the wood shop and familiar with on-site construction.
My architecture studios were supplemented with congruent visual studies studios for the 3 years of the M. Arch program. In these studios I honed artistic skills in oil painting, hand sketching, mono-type ink printing, color theory, and observational depiction. I also directed two independent studies: furniture design and fiber-based decorative arts. As an artist I believe I can bring a thorough understanding of nuanced concepts and expressions, as well as a trained eye for artistic visions.
I have some experience working in a design-build firm, Loren Wood Builders in Bloomington, Indiana. There I aided the principal architect by measuring existing buildings on site which were scheduled for remodel, assisted in design of new construction, and procured inventory lists for materials and appliances. During my time at Loren Wood Builders I was also working in field under carpenters to physically build our designs. Because of this, I have a closeup understanding of building techniques and practices.
Since graduation last month, I’ve been designing and producing art and have continued to nourish my appetite for design and embarking on creative endeavors.
