I am currently a graduate student in the Advanced Architectural Design program at Cornell University School of Architecture, Art and Planning. As a licensed architect from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, I have four years of professional experience. My past work ranges from writing and exhibition design, to all stages of building production; from concept to construction administration and site supervision.
I started my career at MOBO Architects participating in national competitions for institutional buildings, two of which were awarded with honorable mentions. After, I spent two years at Lucas Oberlaender Arquitectos, a small studio in which design goes hand in hand with construction detailing, supervision and theoretical production. There, I worked in a private competition which was awarded first place, and in the refurbishing of a building. I led these from the conceptual phase to the supervision at the construction site. In parallel, we engaged in furniture design and research for housing projects. I then moved to a studio focused on exhibition design. At Franca, I led the project for Colombia’s Art Biennial (45 Salón Nacional de Artistas) which took place in eight different venues across Bogotá. I was involved from the conceptualization to the mounting of the exhibitions. Later, I led the project for Departamento Temporal de los Objetos, an ongoing exhibition that opened in late 2020.
In parallel to my professional work at these studios, I was commissioned the design and construction of a house in the outskirts of Bogotá. I developed the concept, had interaction with the client, produced the conceptual and construction documents, and attended the supervision for the construction. The 100 square meter house was finished in late 2019. My personal work includes also two group exhibitions in Espacio Odeón that were the result of an open call that aimed to question the space of the gallery.
