About 

In 2017, Josh joined MASS Design Group in Kigali, Rwanda as a Global Health Corps Fellow and Designer. For three years he and his teammates designed and built an agricultural university in the Eastern Province with a mission of training the next generation of leaders in conservation agriculture. This experience cemented his interest in environmental and social justice in the built environment. He continues to pursue this passion within his graduate studies at the Yale School of Architecture.

Worked with a team to produce documentation for the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture. Comprehensive of the entire design process, my work consisted of documentation of initial pre-design of the Rwanda food system, production of over 25 construction documents, and completion of post-occupancy documentation.

Newly elected as coordinator for the National Organization for Minority Architects, my graduate studies will explore the intersection of race and the built environment. Additionally, with classes in the School of the Environment, I will continue to push my knowledge of sustainable design and the role of embodied carbon.

Arizona State University, Bachelors, Architectural Studies

As a native to Phoenix, Arizona, I studied Architecture at Arizona State University where I was exposed to the importance of local materials and social impact design. Awarded with the Sean Murphy Travel Grant, I studied and visited the social housing of Chile and used those lessons to complete my undergraduate thesis on tribal housing within the in the Gila River Indian Reservation.

AIA Design Justice Grant, Grant

Awarded for the design and build of one of the first public spaces in the City of Kigali which was presented to the city and received an invitation to the 2019 UN Habitat Assembly.
