Hey!
I'm a recent M.Arch grad from the University of Virginia and I'm looking for full time work. I've had 6 internships and I want to be a contributing designer at a mid-sized firm that does interesting work with ethical clients. My skills are writing, researching, drafting, and being a fast talker. I'm not afraid of hard work and can't wait to begin my career on a team I can count on!
KieranTimberlake, Philadelphia, PA, US, Extern Designer
This week long 'externship' at KTA was a short dive into practicing at a large, high profile firm. While there, I helped with a client presentation.
Pohlar Construction, Cincinnati, OH, US, Junior Project Manager
Pohlar Construction is a small firm that specializes in multi-unit redevelopment and remodeling in Cincinnati, Ohio. Working remotely while I finished school and into the summer, I drafted as-built drawings and took many site measurements trips. I also aided in permit set assembly and design for 5 projects.
Simeone Deary Design Group, Chicago, IL, US, Intern Interior Designer
Simeone Deary is a large hospitality interior design firm and my work revolved around practice management, project visualization, and library stewardship. Working with two other interns, we coordinated all vendor presentations and client meetings.
Timbre Architecture, Oakland, CA, US, Intern Architectural Assistant
Working side by side with the principal architect, I worked on residential and small commercial projects at Timbre. I was one of three people working at the time and I loved the intimate connection I got with our clients. Permit set management, building department submittals, and client meetings took up most of my time.
Tillotson Design Associates, New York, NY, US, Intern Designer
I was an intern lighting designer with Tillotson while I was studying at the University of Cincinnati for undergrad. I did a lot of office management and CAD lighting layouts while also picking up technical knowledge about architectural lighting. I spent time working on the Comcast skyscraper in Philadelphia.
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, US, MArch, Master of Architecture
At UVa, I really honed my design and research talents. Working on studios all over the US while also taking part in rigorous teaching opportunities was a joy. My thesis, 'Untitled Power Plant Project,' won the King Medal Award for Excellence in Architecture and Environmental Research and University of Virginia Faculty
Award for Design Excellence. I learned that I want to work with post-industrial landscape transformation with a central focus on environmental justice.
University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, US, Bachelors, B. S. Architecture
At the University of Cincinnati, I had to opportunity to work interdisciplinary with the rest of the college of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. This school with its co-op program allowed me to work all over the United States, giving me an appreciation of practice as well as useful experience. While there, I volunteered with DesignLAB, a local non-profit that placed architecture students and practitioners into school to teach kids about architecture. I worked with 5th graders for three years and won the UC Community Service Award through this effort. I graduated Summa Cum Laude.
