I am a creative, highly-motivated and experienced Junior Architect from New Zealand. I graduated with a Master of Architecture (Professional-1st Class Honours) from the University of Auckland and recently worked in a design and environment orientated firm Irving Smith Architects. I worked closely with the directors who have received international awards from WAF, UNESCO, German Design Awards and numerous New Zealand Awards.
I am inquisitive and constantly working towards new challenges and opportunities to develop my skills as a professional. I believe architecture is a powerful medium that affects the way we live, feel and perceive. My thesis ‘Alone Together: Window Watchers in the City’ researched and designed a 'library' as a third space in the city with the use of architectural elements to direct people’s sight, which inherently shape and enhance their lifestyles. I value the harmonious flows when creating spaces, and I am interested in the concurrent impressions of direct and indirect spatial influences; the impact of volumes, textures and subtle details on the atmosphere of a place.
My work ethic is proactive, diligent and highly-organized. I have a strong design sensibility and passion for learning, high attention to detail, a nerdy love of design and exceptional presentation skills. I work effectively both individual and within a team to produce well articulated results. I have the ability and desire to work in a fast-paces environment, and my motto is to do the best of my ability in every job. Within my experiences in New Zealand and China, I participated in a variety of architectural, interior and urban planning projects including high-end residential, town house, apartment, school, office, retail, restaurant, community center, master plan, urban development and cathedral.
To explore the possibilities that lie ahead in the industry and to encounter more inspirational professionals and expertise, I have decided to move to New York. I look forward to working as a Junior Architect in New York as I am very excited to learn more about architecture in the aspects of the world’s biggest Metropolis. I have the ability and desire to work in a fast-paces environment. I believe innovative architecture is born with collaborative ideas and diverse cultures. I am proud of my experiences and skills, I would like to utilize them in the field of creative problem solving to shape the places we occupy.
During my spare time I enjoy to hang out with friends and explore the city. I also like to sketch and doodle with ink pens and water colors.
I will be living in New York from the 16th of March, 2020. I hold a J1 visa, I will be legal to work in the US and I do not need additional sponsorship.
