My name is Nikita Shumeiko, I am a graduate of the Moscow Architectural Institute (State Academy). School has the validation certificate of the UNESCO-UIA Charter for Architectural Education. At the time of writing the letter, I finished my studies and did a diploma on vertical farming - a city farm where plants are grown for food. As part of the research, I created my hydroponic farm, where I grow 3 kinds of salad. I'm interested in the theme of ecology and trends related to overpopulation of mankind and ways to solve it. I understand that the successes at the university do not mean success in real designing, so from the 4rd year I started working at the Moscow architecture and consulting company KB Strelka on the position of junior architect from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, I enrolled at Sergey Scuratov Architecture company, where from 2018 to 2019 I was working in charge of the Multifunctional residential estate project, restructuring and environmental renewal of a 7 ha. residential area in Minsk, Belorussia. This is a real long-term development project of the living accommodations and public zones with the underground parking. My direct responsibility included creating urban planning hand models, drawings and 3D model of the area as well as calculating architectural and urban analysis and developing graphical elements for the final presentation.
Now I want to continue working in the USA, as I want to immerse myself in the specificity of the chosen career as well as in a new culture, rich of achievements, where the most modern architecture is built.
The scope of my competence and the situations in which I may be useful to the company. I can be involved in the process of discussing concept, not just during designing. I generate ideas pretty quickly. This skill began to develop after the design - thinking workshop on the 3rd course. As a team we interviewed people, received insights, wrote down thoughts on stickers and on walls and found possible solutions. I'm not afraid to offer even the most realistic ideas the management. I believe that everybody make mistakes. It turned out that there were futuristic concepts, then processed and acquired the real nature of the projects being sold. I quickly model and sketch using the programs Rhino, Revit, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, StechUP, Adobe Illustrator, as every day during 4 years I have been working using them simultaneously, doing student or commercial projects. I can assume the analytical data in QGIS or Grasshopper. I carry out working blueprints, combining them with proper graphics. I try to make every project memorable. First I find out information about the location: its history, influence on the city and the citizen. After this, having clear objectives, I imagine how the structure will be inscribed in the context of the place. I do manual sketches and search layouts, and then I turn to designing. On the 4th course I went on an exchange for a semiannual internship in Spain at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where I got acquainted with and mastered the working methods of laser and milling machines, 3D printing. I can prepare a draft working layout or a final layout of any complexity.
I always plan the work in advance and perform it step by step. I hand it over on time, as I always leave 3-4 days in reserve for changes and improvements. I do not take a lot of tasks at the same time, so as not to let down the customer and the employer. I can take responsibility and lead the process. This experience was received during the summer workshop on the 4th course, where the team of 5 architects worked as a faculty with a group of engineers of 100 people. The theme of the event was dedicated to the development of Siberia and the Arctic. Obtained skills - I can intelligibly tell and convey to people information about what they need to do, work both in the group and in the team. I'm serious about work and I'm not distracted in the process, but I also like to laugh and tell jokes to defuse the working process.
