"Graduate Architecture offers a three-year professional degree. The 84 credit, six-semester (or 56 credit, four-semester with advanced standing) (fall entrance, Brooklyn campus only) professional degree program is carefully orchestrated across three years.
Year 01 introduces students to a variety of technologies, methods, and modes of approaching architecture. While all of the courses are related, they also dive deeply into their four curricular areas (Design, History-Theory, Architectural Mediums, and Building Technologies) allowing students to gain an understanding of the differing praxes that influence architectural design. Studio projects transition from a focus on the mediums and methods deployed to develop a design to a focus on the qualities, interiority, and use of a building. The courses both engage first principles as well as cutting-edge thinking and practices.
Year 02 introduces students to a wider array of urban, contextual, theoretical, and ecological issues, while demanding an increased proficiency technically and in the use and understanding of architectural media. Courses and their content become increasingly interrelated throughout the year, requiring students to engage all praxes of design and increasingly higher degrees of design and theoretical modalities. This year is intended to bring students to the cutting-edge of the discipline, the profession, and their related praxes, preparing them to engage in Directed Research with faculty. In semester four, students select their studio faculty, work in teams, select an area of specialty for Architectural Mediums Three, and are able to take their first elective. M.Arch Advance Standing (AS) students are required to take History-Theory two this semester (in place of an elective).
Year 03 offers students an opportunity to work closely with faculty through Directed Research electives and design studios to develop their individual project, and understanding of architecture and its multiplicity of related praxes. Students select most of their courses in this year and holistically chart their individual path according their Directed Research interests. Subjects and course offerings throughout this year may change annually with the goal of exposing students to a wide array of leading regional, national, and international designers and thinkers."

"Students declared in the BFA in Art program, partake in many shared learning experiences throughout the comprehensive studio art curriculum. Freshman and Sophomores explore a broad range of media in foundational studio courses designed to develop technical proficiencies. Sophomores and Juniors explore a range of contemporary artistic practices through required courses in Contemporary Gallery Practice, Modernism and Contemporary Art History. Juniors and seniors take four intermedia interdisciplinary studio art courses that promote critical and conceptual thinking as they develop individual artistic voices. The senior seminar course is the capstone experience in the program requiring students to write a thesis statement and install an exhibition of their artwork in Chapman’s Guggenheim Gallery. Every semester, students work together to install shows which are judged by visiting professional artists and gallerists.
Students are expected to use identifying and comparative language to explain how their own artwork is positioned within the general context of contemporary artistic practice both orally and in writing. They will also produce/create artwork that evidences a mutually reinforcing integration of form and content. We require students to participate in personalized education that helps them develop an independent, informed and articulate voice as an artist, which they will demonstrate through their studio work, artist statement and exhibition.
We help students develop writing competencies commonly used in the discipline of contemporary art, the ability to write both descriptively and analytically about works of visual art both their own art and that of others in a variety of media."

The Visual Arts Conservatory offers 7th through 12th grade students the opportunity to learn fine art studio techniques, as well as improve upon existing artistic skills. Students will explore both traditional art making methods and innovative, cutting edge art practices. Visual Arts students follow a fixed schedule of core requirement classes during 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. Students then have the opportunity to choose college level elective classes during 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. The result is that Visual Arts students build a college-level art portfolio that reflects talent, skill, and professionalism, along with a personal narrative body of work. This program is designed for students who love to make art of any kind, including drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and graphic design, as well as computer design and computer illustration or animation.
In the Visual Arts Conservatory, students are immersed in a creative and challenging environment, where they learn how to properly use art materials and implement good craftsmanship. They focus on the fundamentals of art-making, such as color theory and the principles of good design. Each grade level has fundamental requirements to ensure that all students have a strong drawing and color foundation before they move on to advanced classes.
Visual Arts Conservatory faculty members focus on preparing students to pursue a secondary education in the arts by utilizing a four or six-year curriculum path that culminates with the production of an outstanding college entrance art portfolio. The goal is to help each individual student get to where they choose to go next – whether that be an art conservatory, a university art program, any art-related professional position, or to apply the creative skills learned in the Visual Arts Conservatory to another field of interest in higher education. Upon graduation, Visual Arts students will be prepared to attend a four-year university or arts conservatory program, as well as enter the commercial illustration and design industries.
