Thomas Chee obtained Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Social Science in Architectural Studies in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Thomas was awarded the 2016 RIBA President’s Silver Medal for his thesis project “Crafts Vault ‒ The V&A Academy of Artisanal Crafts”. The project introduces crafts workshops to a new extension of London’s Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum at a brownfield site in North Kensington left by a local gasworks. It serves not only as a museum of craft but also an archive of knowledge, as well as an academy for preserving and retrieving the lost art of craftsmanship , making artisanal skills relevant to the modern city again.
