The proposal for the master thesis of architecture consist in the rehabilitation of Hotel Humboldt build in 1956, constructed 2150 meters over the sea level in the mountain Avila, Caracas, Venezuela. Avila is one of the major points of interest in the city, it also separates the Caribbean Sea from the city, a green maze that provides oxygen to Caracas. It is worth to highlight that the view at the top of the mountain is quite impressive, having at south the city of Caracas and at the north the sea.
To achieve an idea of the project it was necessary to make a link between the various speeches of study. Such speeches were fundamental during the evolution of the idea. The site, the fundamental piece of the hotel; The importance of the hotel towards the city, behind a life of openings and closures has become a reflection if the political development of the country and an icon to the city; Finally the idea of the project, this solution is going to terminate this disturbing life, completing it and returning the icon to the city.
The idea in a inner language arises from the problem of having it away from the city and to not have any program to arouse people´s attention. In this way it was found a manifest that was needed to add new programe that will complete the hotel without taking away the essence and the value of the hotel.
Looking to the outside of the building, it is propose to create a new volume of access from the cable car to the main space of the hotel, where it will be clear the main access and at the same it will be relate to all the set. In other way, design the main volume of the hotel without hiding the true origins of the authentic work, considering always the time in which it was build an the strong influence if the greatest masters of modern architecture that are reflected in it.
