I have studied and worked in India and Sri Lanka prior to my arrival in the United States for my Masters in Architecture at Cornell University (M'Arch II). In India. I was exposed to all manner of architectural design studies and strategies, functioning at various scales, where the binding principle behind each project. job and internship was a powerful notion of contextual sensitivity to both the site and the user - A respect for the traditions that have shaped our land and the ideologies of other great architectural movements that have shaped the world and their application and relation to the Indian context.
While working at Audrey Matlock Architect. I have absorbed to a great extent. Audrey's own meticulousness and precision. a vision of contemporary modernism that I believe. has only complemented and added to my own love for traditional. vernacular architecture.
I believe a considered and respectful marriage between the two is not only possible but necessary.
In addition to a deep interest in issues that relate to complex urban conditions. I am also passionate about the exploration and use of small scale design interventions as a means to incorporate new materials and construction techniques.
