About

I am an architect who works with homeowners to create the homes of their dreams. I believe that a person’s home represents sanctuary and safety, intimacy and privacy, while expressing its owners’ personalities, physical needs, and lifestyles. Working with homeowners to add to and remodel older homes, or to design one-of-a-kind custom homes, I help bring peoples’ dreams alive in spaces that they use every day.

I have worked with over 100 families on their homes since founding Studio Z in 1997. Many clients have returned years later to work with us on additional projects. In 2015, I was hired by Scripps Networks to work on a home in Ann Arbor’s Water Hill neighborhood. After an extensive remodeling process, this home became a sweepstakes prize on HGTV’s Urban Oasis® in October 2016. In 2018, I was recognized by the American Institute of Architects for my exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society by being named a Fellow of the AIA.

I earned a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Cincinnati in 1991 and have lived in Southeast Michigan since 1994. In addition to designing homes, I enjoy reading, making jewelry, laughing, and taking photos of my two Siamese cats. I was also the lead singer in a cover band called the Bitter Regrets for about 5 years.
