Initial requirements for position required candidate to have obtained an MArch as well as be proficient in ArchiCAD. I did not meet those requirements, however was given the opportunity to prove myself during a probation period after which I was employed full-time.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attending initial site visits to establish project requirements.
• Obtaining existing building plans from Municipality.
• Measuring of existing building structures and adjustment of existing plans
before commencement of design.
• Compiling project brief according to client requirements.
• Assistance in development of project quotation.
• Design Development with special attention to requirements of
Architectural guidelines of specific housing estates and developments.
• Landscape Design Development for clients which require this additional
service.
• Correspondence and discussions with clients regarding design proposals.
• Development of Municipal / Council drawings which comply with SANS
10400 for HOA approval as well as Council approval for construction.
• Compiling tender documentation and specification for costing purposes
as well as assisting clients with appointing the best building contractor.
• Rendering of project designs in Adobe Photoshop for marketing purposes.
• Attending site visits during construction and monitoring quality of work
on projects which we were appointed as Principal Agents with assistance
Principal Architect.

Although my qualification does not include landscape design, I was appointed as a landscape architectural technologist. After 3 months I was also appointed as the Administrator and Bookkeeper for Viridian Consulting.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architectural Technologist
• Attending initial site visits to establish project requirements and existing
site conditions.
• Obtaining existing building plans from Municipality.
• Conducting tree survey and compiling tree survey drawings and
documentation.
• Assistance in development of project quotation.
• Assisting Landscape Architect with the Design Development with special
attention to requirements of Architectural guidelines of specific housing
estates and developments.
• Preparation of Cost Estimates and Bill of Quantities for project feasibility
• Development of Municipal / Construction drawings for project approval.
• Rendering of plans in Adobe Photoshop
• Project submission to council
• Assisting to compile Tender documentation for projects.

Practice Administrator & Bookkeeper
• Ensuring all company documentation is updated.
• Reapplying for BEE & Tax Clearance Certification.
• Monitoring Invoicing to clients and payments received to ensure positive
cash flow for company is maintained.
• Capturing of financial data on Pastel for tax purposes.
• Submitting monthly PAYE and VAT returns to SARS via e-filing.
• Assisting Accountant with Annual Tax returns and any additional financial
requirements.
• Writing and developing of business working procedures and compiling
necessary documentation.
