Education

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Pomona, CA, US, BArch, Architecture

1- Worked on various studies of streets and plans in the city of Los Angeles. We worked on the studies of massing and creating models out of chipboard and museumboard. Our final project to sum up the whole year is to create an architect's retreat that would place a modern twist to Le Corbusier's Cabanon.
2- Incorporated program and clientele into mind when designing. We worked on such projects as a museum in Downtown LA for a fictitious art collector, and a viewing observatory/water cache storage on Mulholland Drive. There is a larger emphasis on architectural history and theory.
3- Main emphasis on construction and structure. Main project is a multi-unit housing complex, which we design and detail based on multi-housing typical of Los Angeles. We also study codes to create a project as close to a real housing project that an architecture firm would design for (ways of egress, fire exits, FAR, and ADA). In a way, we create a project in mind while assuming the role of architect, structural engineer, and code analyst.
4- Design architecture in the context of urban planning. We keep in mind such programs as mixed-use to create projects which would combine usability and context within the greater urban fabric. We also have a larger emphasis on historic preservation and adaptive reuse. Research projects and precedents to find creative strategies in order to reuse space and use design strategies to restore history.
5- Find and research site and program to be used for thesis. From there, design a feasible architecture that will add and enrich to the culture of Southern California with emphasis on rich graphics, accurate plans and sections and physical model-making.
