Yeou-Uei is an MSAAD graduate at Cornell AAP, where he was a research team member at the Housing Innovation Lab, concentrating on housing quality in NYC. He holds a B.Arch. from Tamkang University in Taiwan, where he is a licensed architect. During his undergraduate years, he was a research team member at the Dynamic Skin Lab, focusing on the interaction between architecture and emotions. His thesis design, Seeing with Eyes Closed, won the UIA-HYP Cup 2018 Second Prize, an international student competition in China.
His professional experience started when he interned at Xian Dai Architectural Design in Shanghai and Kengo Kuma And Associates in Tokyo. After gaining his undergraduate degree, he earned four years of experience at Joe Shih Architects, a Taiwanese firm, working on various projects, multi-family housing, hospitality, luxurious interior designs, and academic facilities architecture. He organized a multi-family housing in Tainan with a 634,026 sqft floor area, three 15-story buildings, and 618 units. He also designed an elementary school with a 365,789 sqft floor area and 60 classes in Hsinchu.
His work focuses on human-centered design, especially in living and working spaces. He also experiments with representing and notating light, shadow, memories, and experiences.
