About

Born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia, March 12, 1973, Salvador graduated from High School with a Salutatorian Degree, the Presidential Academic Fitness award by President George Bush, and the Andrés Bello, the highest award a high school graduate can receive in Colombia. He moved in 1991 to Bogotá to study Architecture in the Universidad De Los Andes from which he received the professional degree in 1997. That year he stated working as the fifth architect in a recently-formed company, called Arquitectura e Interiores for whom he worked for over nine years, as a lead designer, project manager and later as Director of Interior Design.

During this time he helped form a company that, at the time of leaving, had grown to 85 employees and over 5,000,000 sqft. of interior corporate design and construction, becoming by far the largest and most successful corporate interiors consultant and contractor in Colombia.  His highlighted projects are, in no particular order: Atento Colombia, Atento Venezuela, Procter & Gamble Puerto Rico, GLR Miami, Caracol Radio, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bellsouth, Bayer Cropscience, The World Bank, Cemex (which was awarded the first National Interior Architecture Award), Coca-Cola, and SAB Miller. In all these projects he performed as Lead Designer or Design Director and his responsibilities were carrying out and supervising client interviewing, programming, preliminary layouts, final layout, design development, construction document drawing, MEP coordinating and construction design supervision.

Seeing the business opportunity in outsourcing construction documents for American architectural companies, in 2003 he participated in the development of the Outsourcing Department.  He helped market and directed this department and performed as project manager for the first trial projects.  Working for companies like Gensler, Interior Architects and TPG Architecture among others, the client list grew making this the most lucrative business for Arquitectura e Interiores.

One thing that makes his experience in AEI very interesting is that as the company grew larger, the partners saw the necessity of becoming more organized, so in 2002 they set the goal to be ISO 9000 certified, and in 2004 they received the certification for all their processes including, of course, the interior corporate design process.  This is why Salvador is certified in Quality Assurance, Quality Planning, Preventive and Corrective Actions, Quality Indicators Management, Statistical Tools, and Interior Quality Auditing.

All of these accomplishments are the direct result of a well-lead, hard-working team of which he had the privilege of being a part of.  Salvador also had great learning experiences; assisting trade fairs like Orgatec and Neocon in various opportunities and visiting clients and providers in various continents, allowing him to be a spokesperson for Arquitectura e Interiores and a teacher at forums, seminars and universities, which was fulfilling and enlightening.

Through the Outsourcing business the opportunity arose to have major change in his life, and this is why in September of 2006 he moved to Dubai to work as a Senior Designer for Burt Hill Architects (now Stantec) where he had the opportunity to work on schematic designs, design developments, construction documents, and construction administration for typical Dubai projects where enormous scopes are carried out in record time. These overwhelming circumstances provided a steep learning curve of the region’s development, design, and construction markets.

The opportunities Dubai brings to those in the design and construction business are incredible.  With Burt Hill he was able to participate and lead the design efforts for major projects for Limitless and Union Properties, two of the region’s largest developers.

In 2008, Salvador was hired by Bare Design Group, a small commercial and hospitality design-build firm, allowing him to go back to marketing tasks as well as designing much smaller but very interesting leisure projects. This also helped him understand the difficulties of setting up a new design business in the region. During his time with Bare, Salvador lead the design efforts for restaurantes, bars and nightclubs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kolkatta.

In 2011, Salvador returns to Colombia and creates his Corporate Interiors Design-Build Firm called Frieri Arquitectura. The last 8 years, he has dedicated his work to the creation of high-quality user-focused spaces always within the client's time and cost requirements.
