Hello, I am Mallory! I am a senior at Northern Arizona University and will be graduating in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Visual Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design.
During my time at NAU, I completed a semester at SUNY Buffalo in a CIDA accredited program where I gained valuable knowledge of design and acquired new critical thinking skills. While on exchange, a competition called the Fillmore Project was held to redesign a consignment shop in the Fillmore area that was undergoing revitalization. My group won the competition and our designs were recently implemented and the store is doing great!
In 2016 I did a summer study abroad trip to New Zealand and Australia where I studied Hip Hop and Indigenous Cultures. This opened my mind to think about all the diverse ways culture impacts design and how that can enhance a community. I took from this experience a new way thinking when it comes to the quality of living and visual culture in a community.
Before starting my senior year, I was chosen by NAU's interior design department chair, Roger Vitello, to submit a project to the Angelo Donghia Scholarship Foundation and I was then selected to be a part of the 2017 scholarship competition.
I recently completed a summer internship at Dalton Interiors in Scottsdale, Arizona, where I gained experience working on projects that include multi-family complexes, health care facilities, and various residential projects. After the summer ended, Dalton Interiors invited me to stay on and work remotely while I complete my degree.
I have a deep passion for interior design and I aspire to make a change in the world by designing inspired and healthy interior environments while helping preserve the existing structures in our world.
